A recent website that was shut down due to illegal business.
This website was 'hidden' from the government and recently found by the FBI.
Drugs, guns/weapons, illegal porn etc was accessable via the website until it was shut down earlier this week (30/09/13). The website used Bitcoins for payments so that traces could not be made back to the individuals who had accounts on the website.
"The FBI seized bitcoins worth approximately $3.6m (£2.2m) on Tuesday.
The price of a bitcoin, a virtual currency for use online, fell steeply after
the arrest of suspected website administrator Ross Ulbricht.
Investor confidence may have been shaken by the association of bitcoins with
illegal activity, according to a security expert." - info found on BBC website.

Hello! Basically I am a young woman and I am interested in making an online diary of my thoughts for each week of the year. I will be taking pictures and posting them along with topics that have interested me during the week. This is a personal project that I can upload to any future portfolio and I would like anyone to keep comments to themselves. Many Thanks & Enjoy!

Date Rape Drug
Date rape drug is often used in nightclubs all over the world whilst young people are venerable do to drinks being left unoccupied.
Bottle caps have been made by the police to prevent open bottles, making it harder for 'spikers' to proceed with the 'spiking'.
Rohypnol (flunitrazepam) is a prescribed drug that puts an individual to sleep, the date rape drug is made up of this - causing the victim to loose control.
Street names for Rohypnol include: Roofies, Roche, Rope, Ruffies, R-2, Roaches, Rib, Forget-me Pill, and Mexican Valium.
Wikipedia explanation:
A date rape drug, also called a predator drug, is any drug that can be used to assist in the execution of drug facilitated sexual assault (DFSA). The unofficial term "date rape drug" came into widespread usage in the early 1990s through U.S. news media reports.
The most common types of DFSA are those in which a victim ingested drugs willingly for recreational purposes, or had them administered surreptitiously: it is the latter type of assault that the term "date rape drug" most often refers to. Date rape drugs often have sedative, hypnotic, dissociative, and/or amnesiac effects, and can be added to a food or drink without the victim's knowledge.

Human Addictions
This week I was talking to somebody about how people become addicted.
It is only human that we are addicted to something that makes us feel good e.g.
Sex
Collecting stamps
Tattoos
Cocaine
Cannabis
Coffee
Coca-cola
etc.
Recently on TV there was a documentary about the addiction of tattoos on channel 4.
This was interesting to see why people wanted/got tattoos - there were many different reasons but the most related topic was a man who like action figures of superheroes.
This gave him comfort by collecting these and then getting tattoos to feel 'connected'.
Sex addiction is one of the most common addictions and one of the simplest to supply for.
From a survey I have taken on 25 women and 25 men - women show to be more likely sex addicts than men as 21 out of 25 admitted to wanting to have sex more than once a day where as the men I asked were a lot more reserved with answers. This however may not be a reliable source because I only asked a minority and the females I interviews seemed to be younger than the males.
Why are we addicted to drugs?
Thousands of people around the world are addicted to drugs, I did not want to do a survey in public about drug use as many people would most likely not admit to taking drugs as it can be a touchy subject. This makes statistics unreliable because not many people will be proud to admit it.
Cocaine and Cannabis are the most common addictive drug, many other drugs such as MDMA and ketamine are not done as often due to the 'highs' where as cannabis is seen as a 'chilling' drug and keeps people in a relaxed state.

Coffee, Alcohol are also classed as drugs due to the addiction and craving of the human body

Birthdays
Why do we have balloons to celebrate ?
Where did the birthday cake come from?
When we look at the reasons we celebrate birthdays it is because we are another year older, I have been looking into why we buy birthday cakes and balloons as decoration at this time of year as my birthday is 25th September (tomorrow) and I find it a question nobody seems to ask.
Research I have made into this doesn't tell us much, it is as if we have picked out this object to represent our birthdays purely because it is a 'cool' object that can float.
Balloons are a selling point so shops will benefit from birthdays and make some money from them, a bit like roses on valentines day.

Drunken Relationships
One night stands are a common drunken mistake - many women and men have sex while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Cheating occurs very often as people are a lot more vulnerable when drunk to being lured into a one night romance.

Many holidays have the typical 'holiday romance', many drunken nights making new friends, just like in the home land however many people are more outgoing on their jollys.
People make many drunken friends and enemies on nights out - some ending well, others not so well.
Young people can be very vunerable and need to be aware of rape / kidnaping - there are many serious incidents that happen relating to rape while young girls especially are under the influence.
There is also the case of men been blamed for rape - this is more common with young women who where too drunk the night before.
Relationships between friends is usually banter and full of fun however some characters have different personalities while drunk e.g happy, sad, angry, hyper etc so always make sure someone is aware of what is going on!
In my group of friends we have the carer, the half wayer and the pisshead. The carer being most responsible and taking in the night and anything that may occur, the half wayer being the jolly one who keeps the peace between pisshead and carer - pisshead being the drunk paraletic.

Alcohol
Alcohol causes many issues.
Most recently in Ilkley West Yorkshire there have been fights, people being bottled and young men & women getting spiked. The most recent even was in September when a young man was bottled by two men, leaving him bleeding and unconscious leading to ten staples in the side of his head. In the early summer another girl got 'slashed' in the face causing a permanent scar across her face.
A lot of bars and pubs now have bouncers due to fighting, people being paralytic, drug abusers etc.

Many people are affected by alcohol abuse on a daily basis.

Ownership
Do you own your pet, or do they own you?
Egyptians worshipped cats http://www.richeast.org/htwm/cats/cats.html

Egyptians worshipped cats http://www.richeast.org/htwm/cats/cats.html

This once upon a time preditor of humans is now a household pet.
A lot smaller than your usual lion however still decending family members.
How did it come cross that one day someone took a wild animal into their home a a pet?
Pets are great company however back in the day it must have been terrifying having a deadly creature in your home ? Bearing in mind the first household pet will of been thousands of years ago allowing us to adapt the household pet.
Pets are now getting more extravagant as many people own deadly creatures such as the snake - reptiles are very popular in the household e.g the bearded dragon, But why do we like such exotic animals that should surely be in the wild?
